My name is Hedyeh, and I’m an Iranian-American student at the University of Toledo. I’m traveling to Iran to take photos and give my community a taste of the real Iran: real people, real places, and real moments. Iran has so much to offer: from rich flavors and beautiful colors, landscapes and cities, fashion and architecture. I hope to use photography to change the American perception of this country and its people.
I’m traveling as a Toledo Museum of Art Palmer scholar. I’m not the first person to take on this kind of work, though! Here is a list of some of my inspirations in proposing this project:
- The Tehran Times
- Ajam Media Collective
- Humans of New York in Iran
- Hoda Katebi at Joojoo Azad
- Iran Unveiled Artist Collective
- Press TV’s The Iran Show
- Nasim Asgari
…and many more! Check out these awesome people and their work–you won’t regret it.
